With our new Classic collection, we are launching our journey into balancing durability with sustainability.

From our founding, we have been conscious of the impact that travel has—both on ourselves and on the world. We believe that the more we travel, the better we become.  

As a brand deeply invested in the exploration of the earth, we are committed to its preservation. Our ambition is to be environmentally conscious in everything we do. We understand that every product we make has an environmental impact, and we are committed to working to reduce this impact on the world in which we live, work, and travel.

Where we started

Our design process has always been about meeting the needs of our customers first. In 2016, we set out on a mission to transform travel with the launch of our original Carry-On suitcase, designed to be durable and to withstand any journey. Through ongoing customer engagement and feedback, we are continually refining how our products address your expectations. Seven years, millions of customers, and billions of miles later, we have learned a thing or two about what really matters to travelers everywhere. In developing our newest line of Classic suitcases we’ve listened to you and improved some of the key features of our original suitcases, and even added new features that you have asked for. And increasingly, we have heard that you—like us—are as concerned about preserving the world as you are excited to explore it.

Where we’re going

With that in mind, our design team has undertaken a rigorous process to begin our product design process with a sustainability-first lens. Through thoughtful design and manufacturing techniques we are taking steps to improve the circularity in our product development process and the impact of our new products. We’ve pored over every detail of our best-selling Classic suitcases and their components—and as a result, we have taken steps to increase the portion of recycled content in many of our components. We did all of this while still ensuring that we’re providing the same durable and reliable travel companion that you know and love.

Other areas of our design team’s focus include:

  • Reducing the amount of virgin material used for our new Classic suitcases
  • Increase the portion of recycled materials in many of our components
  • Ensuring that exterior packaging materials are 100% recyclable

This is just the beginning. We are only in the first phase of our journey towards becoming a truly environmentally conscious company. But we see doing so as an imperative—and we are working to bring transparency and rigor to every step.
