Some products just work. You buy them, you use them, and then you tell everyone you know about them. That's pretty much the story with our packing cubes, once people try them, they don't go back to loose packing.
We took a look at what our customers are loving most, and these four sets keep coming up again and again. Whether you're a weekend warrior, a frequent flyer with a suit to protect, or a parent traveling with kids who insist on packing their own bags, there's something here for you.
The Insider Packing Cubes
This is where most people start and honestly, where a lot of people stay. The Insider Packing Cubes are our original set, and they've earned nearly a thousand glowing reviews for a reason.
The set comes with four cubes in different sizes: a small wide for socks and underwear, a medium slim for t-shirts, a medium wide for pants and dresses, and a large slim for sweaters and bulkier stuff. They're made from water-repellent nylon (so a leaky toiletry won't ruin your day) with mesh tops so you can see what's inside without unzipping everything.
One set fits perfectly in any of our carry-on suitcases. Packing a checked bag? You can fit two sets. And for The Trunk, three sets.
The best part? They're machine washable. Toss them in when you get home, lay flat to dry, and they're ready for your next trip.
Compression Packing Cubes
If you've ever sat on your suitcase trying to zip it closed, these are for you. Compression Packing Cubes do exactly what they sound like, they expand when you need room to pack, then compress down when you need to actually close your suitcase.
The magic is in the dual-zipper design. One zipper opens the cube up to its full depth. The second zipper runs around the perimeter and squeezes everything flat. You can fit up to 30% more than standard packing cubes, which is huge for longer trips or overpacking-prone travelers (no judgment, we get it).
They're made from water-repellent nylon and polyester with mesh tops, and they include a webbing handle so you can grab and go. The set of four includes a small wide, medium slim, large wide, and large slim covering basically everything you'd need to pack.
Quick tip: Compression works best on casual, durable fabrics like jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters. For delicate stuff, stick with the regular Insider Cubes.
The Centerfold Garment Sleeve
Not everything belongs in a packing cube. Suits, blazers, dress shirts, that one outfit you're bringing for the event these need a little more care. Enter The Centerfold Garment Sleeve.
It's basically a portable closet that folds neatly into your suitcase. The sleeve zips open vertically, has tiered loops to fit multiple hangers, and clips directly inside your Away luggage so everything stays put. There's a metal hook on top for hanging when you arrive, and two zippered pockets for accessories or jewelry.
Made from water-repellent nylon with leather details, it comes in two sizes: one for carry-on suitcases (18.3" x 40.8" unfolded) and one for medium and large checked bags (21.3" x 51.4" unfolded). Both fold down surprisingly compact.
What fits inside: The carry-on size holds a dress or a couple of shirts. The checked size can handle a full suit or multiple dresses.
Kids Packing Cubes
Traveling with kids is... a lot. Anything that makes it easier is worth its weight in gold. Kids Packing Cubes are sized for little ones' clothes and designed to fit inside our Kids Carry-On, but the real win is how much they help with the chaos.
The set comes with three cubes two medium and one wide in a fun, color-blocked Fruit Punch design. They're made from the same water-repellent nylon as our adult cubes, with mesh tops for visibility. Kids can actually pack their own stuff (with supervision, obviously), which makes them feel involved and makes your job a little easier.
Beyond the organizational lift, there's something to be said for teaching good packing habits early. Plus, when everything has a designated cube, "I can't find my pajamas" becomes a lot less of a thing.
How to Choose
Still not sure which one's right? Here's the quick version:
The Insider Packing Cubes: You want a solid, versatile set that works for most trips. Start here.
Compression Packing Cubes: You're packing for a week or more, you tend to overpack, or you want to squeeze the most out of your suitcase space.
The Centerfold Garment Sleeve: You're traveling with clothes that need to stay wrinkle-free suits, dresses, anything you'd normally hang in your closet.
Kids Packing Cubes: You're traveling with kids and want to keep their stuff organized (and give them a job to do).
Of course, you can always mix and match. Plenty of travelers use the Insider Cubes for everyday clothes, a Compression Cube for bulkier items, and the Garment Sleeve for that one outfit they need to look good in. There's no wrong way to do it.
